Psalm 61- 1
- Psalm 61 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David.
- 1
- Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
- 2
- From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
- 3
- For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
- 4
- I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah
- 5
- For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
- 6
- Increase the days of the king's life, his years for many generations.
- 7
- May he be enthroned in God's presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.
- 8
- Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
Psalm 56- 1
- Psalm 56 For the director of music. To [the tune of] "A Dove on Distant Oaks." Of David. A miktam. [1] When the Philistines had seized him in Gath.
- 1
- Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me; all day long they press their attack.
- 2
- My slanderers pursue me all day long; many are attacking me in their pride.
- 3
- When I am afraid, I will trust in you.
- 4
- In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
- 5
- All day long they twist my words; they are always plotting to harm me.
- 6
- They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, eager to take my life.
- 7
- On no account let them escape; in your anger, O God, bring down the nations.
- 8
- Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll [2] -- are they not in your record?
- 9
- Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.
- 10
- In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise--
- 11
- in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
- 12
- I am under vows to you, O God; I will present my thank offerings to you.
- 13
- For you have delivered me [3] from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
Psalm 114- 1
- Psalm 114
- 1
- When Israel came out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign tongue,
- 2
- Judah became God's sanctuary, Israel his dominion.
- 3
- The sea looked and fled, the Jordan turned back;
- 4
- the mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
- 5
- Why was it, O sea, that you fled, O Jordan, that you turned back,
- 6
- you mountains, that you skipped like rams, you hills, like lambs?
- 7
- Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
- 8
- who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.

Psalm 14- 1
- Psalm 14 For the director of music. Of David.
- 1
- The fool [1] says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
- 2
- The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
- 3
- All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
- 4
- Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD?
- 5
- There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
- 6
- You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
- 7
- Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
